THIS IS NOT A RANT, (CAPS LOCKED)

I owe a little post. and a page.

This isnt a rant, I just thought some things...

Thoughts on comics... Is it possible to tell the stories I want to without "learning to draw" or just, y'know having to draw (and practice draw'n) the kind o stuff I just detest drawing,  (Interiors, I'm talking t' you..)

It might be a case of having to pencil in, or draft, or thumbnail... none of which I use, they bore me out of my mind.. I just sit down and draw in ink... and the wastepaper bin seems to need empty'n an awful lot. Which is a coincidence or something.

Looking through my comics, at folks like Anders Nilson and Sammy Harkham, Philippe Dupuy and Dash Shaw.. and just being consistently blown away by their work, old and new... with the art, seems like the trick is to boil things down without simplifying..  but who's to say eh....  Your style will find you at your drawing board or something.. and'll never look right to your own eyes anyhow.. Chris Ware's as full of distaste for his own work as the rest of us (see the acme novelty datebook).. But methinks its all just a young mans way of seeing the whole thing..

Comics can be the greatest pleasure to work on, as long as you just don't care about them going any further then your own hands.. thats where all those damn neuroses start.

Anyway, as I said topside, this isnt a rant, comics don't bother me so much at the moment..  theres sun and pretty skies and I think I might have flown one time.
as is

Lou Reed Legendary Hearts

AND WE OUT LIKE THAT.

Hello Abe Christie

I Recently discovered your work, and have reviewed your "Swear Jar" comic on my friend's website comicbitsonline. I think your stuff's quite wonderful. Interested in your questions here, and I think you have all your answers already-your "style" will indeed find you( it already has, so don't worry!), and yes, yes, yes, just keep drawing as you are, because within these lines, and your stories, are truths that dare speaking and thinking, and filling an otherwise mediocre medium at most, with heart. Carry on, carry on ploughing your heartfelt, thoughtful path, and good luck for wherever your inky wanderings may take you. Best wishes Paul Ashley Brown

Hello Paul Ashley Brown,

Thanks for the kind words, and the kind review, thats a nice thing for sure... its always good to hear from another kurismaki fan.. Yeah, comics make me feel up and down and lefts and rights.. at the moment theres a lot of great stuff being done, and in the small press particularly it can be hard to know where to begin.. and so t'is nice to know that someone found something of note in my petite book .

Im drawing a little, here and there, and trying to make one page after another. and all those other blahs.

Hallo again Mister Christie

Your last sentence here, yes, that's all there is to it, just keep making, your work is great. I look forward to more of your Petit Books. They're a lot bigger on the inside I reckon. Avery Hill are a good move I think, they've already published some good stuff-yourself, Tillie Walden,Bird, my fellow zine acquaintance Alex Potts, I hope they can keep going. As I hope, do you.
