It's a wordgame I played in university, using a thesaurus t get from one word to  some kind o' opposite, in this case... love to perfidy in twenty one leaps.

Just found this awesome 60's korean act, great sounds, short shorts! heh, style of the time i guess... the pearl sisters - "Hate it"

My first train draw, during  an epic four-day Cross Canada trip. Toronto- Vancouver

 In Brooklyn and on t' prairie (Canadian, about a day west of Toronto)

Just some things Afro-Americans said, to each other mostly. ho humm.

Vancouver was all rain. I spent seven days there, five of which were pretty much constant rain, and when it rains on the north-west coast, it really rains, so much so, lil abe bought his first umbrella there from a little store on the edge of chinatown. 

anyhow, a fella I got talking to in Seattle mentioned the Cool Rays, a pre Beat Happening Calvin Johnson band, he pulled out the cassette too! heh, it's flipping awseome stuff - "cool rays- diary of you"

plus Simon Hanselmann's always worth a check! Great stuff as per the norm.

Plus, dig the Cool Rays- 'Diary of You', Got into a talk with a fellow at Fantagraphics books in Seattle, about the music scene in washington, 80's et al...and he pulled out this cassette... Heres Calvin Johnsons pre Beat Happening effort. Great Stuff.

Well how do folks, abe came home at last... 

two and a half months trawling round the ol U.S.A and Canada, hitting alla the hip comics shops et al... here's the comics I bought on my trip... pretty damn happy with the stuffs... particularly with issues 2-6 o' peep show, Acme novelty Library no. 3 both from The Beguiling, Toronto and Jesse Moynihan's Backwards folding mirror vol.2 (from the flipping Drawn & Quarterly shop, Montreal!)(alla which are of course out of print, hell acme & peep are from the early nineties...) 

also really chuffed to have grabbed ahold of Sam Aldens Hawaii 1997 and St owls Bay by Simon Hanselmann in floating word comics, portland, or. 

Also made it out the the Fantagraphics store in Seattle, bit o' a walk from downtown, but gosh darn, well worth it!  And hit bot TCAF and CAKE where grabbed ahold o' New Issues of Blammo by Noah Van Sciver, and got Dash Shaw's 3 New Stories too!

Got really into Anders Nilsen by the end o' me trip, in my bag just about fitting Big Questions, The End, and Dont go where I cant Follow... I've always enjoyed his stuff, and dont know why I never got round t' buying em before... was content just reading em in shops and on his awesome blog I guess.

Anyhow... got tons to say, but I'll post once I start scanning my 5 moleskine sketchbooks Filled during me trip.

train I ride

How'do folks...just a wee one fo' now (as my internet usage is alas hindered by the pesky 'time limit')

at present I find myself in Vancouver, took a four day train ride from toronto, guh. oh, boy, lots o stories, but not much scan time so the above'll have t' suffice... 

Abe found he really liked Toronto. A lot. Good for books, and film... great lil cafes with good soundtracks... Great for comics... Whist I was there TCAF was on so got to meet and buy books from many great comic artists... plus went to talks with David B, Ivan Brunnetti, Michael Deforge... almost bumped into Art Spiegleman... whoop et al.

I also got to see amelie in a cinema, which I loved. I'd only seen I once before, but on a wee lil screen a few years back... It made all the difference... la de la,,,

I also read Pride and prejudice at last. Je t'aime!

Forgive the old draw (a monoprint from a few years back) But I'm almost off...

To where you cry?! to America I reply. How long you ask, tears welling at the corners of your eyes... Three month's I mumble, looking downward, towards your left ankle...but I shall be drawing, and investigating comics I start, only to be cut off by your hand, leaving a red imprint across my right cheek. There is a pause. A parting, and the sense of an ending. I'll call you... Don't... But Marie.. Jet'aime!

This is a play. you can act it out whenever you feel the need, or just over and over again t'ill I get back t' the blogging. ho hummn. I'll be drawing a lot, and if the chance arises, will put up stuff.

Thats right... the "rushed" issue before I depart to check out the o'l US of A for a few months... pretty happy with this un' put everything together in just over three weeks... and tho' t'is only a short one (just 24 pages all in all) still allow me a  few mins to bask in the glory.

comics is a field with so much glory.
